Located just a short stroll from Birmingham city centre and conveniently close to Snow Hill train station, Hotel du Vin Birmingham is a stunning boutique hotel housed in a beautifully restored former hospital. The building’s grand façade exudes elegance and character, setting the tone for a stay that blends history with contemporary luxury. With its impressive architecture and strong presence in the area, this hotel is an inviting retreat for both leisure and business travelers alike.

Stepping inside, the rich heritage of the building is reflected in its tasteful décor, staying true to the well-known Hotel du Vin aesthetic. Unlike many chain hotels that can feel somewhat generic, Hotel du Vin prides itself on offering a boutique experience, ensuring a stay that feels unique and intimate rather than overly commercial. The interiors are warm and welcoming, featuring dark wood accents, deep leather chairs, and soft lighting that create a cosy yet sophisticated ambiance.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who made check-in swift and effortless. After a warm welcome, we were directed to our Deluxe Room, named Sandeman—a charming touch, as every room in the hotel is named after a wine or Champagne brand. This quirky tradition is a signature feature across the Hotel du Vin collection, adding an extra layer of personality to each stay.

"This hotel provides the perfect blend of sophistication, relaxation, and warm hospitality."

The room itself was spacious, offering plenty of room to unwind. A plush, oversized bed provided the perfect setting for a restful night’s sleep, with crisp linens and soft pillows that felt indulgent and inviting. The seating area, complete with cosy armchairs, offered an ideal space to relax with a freshly brewed coffee from the room’s Nespresso machine—a much-appreciated luxury after a day spent exploring Birmingham’s bustling streets.

One of the standout features of our room was the beautifully designed bathroom. Offering both a walk-in monsoon shower and a roll-top bathtub, it provided the perfect sanctuary for unwinding after a long day. There’s something truly luxurious about a deep, freestanding tub, and this one did not disappoint—it was a delightful spot for a leisurely soak, complete with the hotel’s complimentary bath products. Whether you prefer a quick, refreshing shower or a long, indulgent bath, the bathroom setup caters to all preferences.

As with all Hotel du Vin properties, the on-site restaurant, Bistro du Vin, is a key highlight of the experience. The French-inspired menu features seasonal ingredients prepared with care, served in a setting that balances casual elegance with a touch of romance. The intimate candlelit ambiance makes it a wonderful spot for a relaxed evening meal, whether you’re in the mood for a succulent steak, seafood, or a beautifully crafted vegetarian dish - we highly recommend the Chateaubriand for two, it's a real highlight.

For those looking for something a little more informal, the hotel’s Pub du Vin, located in the basement, is a fantastic alternative. This lively gastro pub serves up hearty, comforting dishes in a setting that feels both rustic and vibrant. Whether you fancy a classic burger, fish and chips, or a sharing platter, the menu is packed with delicious options, and the selection of ales, wines, and cocktails is sure to impress.

Beyond its stylish rooms and excellent dining options, Hotel du Vin Birmingham also offers a range of wellness and relaxation facilities. The on-site spa features six treatment rooms, where guests can enjoy massages, facials, and other rejuvenating treatments. There’s also a dedicated pedicure area, perfect for those looking to add a little extra pampering to their stay.

For those who like to stay active, the hotel boasts a well-equipped gym, as well as a sauna and steam room—ideal for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing or business meetings. These thoughtful amenities enhance the overall guest experience, making it easy to strike a balance between exploration, indulgence, and relaxation.

Our stay at Hotel du Vin Birmingham was nothing short of delightful. From the friendly service and luxurious rooms to the top-notch dining and wellness facilities, every aspect of our visit was thoughtfully designed for comfort and elegance. The hotel’s boutique charm, combined with its rich historical character, makes it a standout choice for anyone visiting Birmingham.

Whether you’re in town for business, a weekend getaway, or a special occasion, this hotel provides the perfect blend of sophistication, relaxation, and warm hospitality. Without a doubt, we would happily return for another stay, knowing that Hotel du Vin Birmingham delivers an exceptional experience every time.
